PCIe 3 support (intel 3770k)?

so... i was doing some research and i came across something i dont quite understand... it says the intel 3770k supports pcie gen 3 but what does it mean? Will it run games or editing faster? can someone please explain it to me?

I apologize for sending you links, not everyone likes to be thrown links but threads such as this can be frustrating to explain.
PCI-E 3.0 is the same as the other generations of PCI-E, the only difference is the bandwidth it can provide (correct me if I'm wrong). For example, PCI-E 2.0 16x is equivalent to PCI-E 3.0 8x.

It won't necessarily run games or edit videos faster (PCI-E 3.0 alone, I mean), but when you run into Multi-GPU configurations, such as SLI or Crossfire, that's when you'll start to see a gap in performance. If you're only running 1 graphics card, there isn't too much benefit.
