I just bought a new motherboard and now considering the 3090 but my motherboard only has pcie 3.0.

The 3090 would totally devastate me financially so I'm trying to figure how bad shape I would be in not having a pcie 4.0. Would I still have amazing abilities and could consider upgrading the Mobo next year? Or am I really wasting the potential by not having pcie 4.0?

Solution
PCie 4.0 is mostly overhyped (at this point in time) and by the time it's relevant PCie 5.0 will be out. Imagine someone with an Intel 10700k or 10900k with no PCIe 4.0 worrying about how an RTX 3090 will perform. No worries. Maybe 1 FPS if that.
