[SOLVED] PCIe cables won't go into graphics card

This is my first build, and it has been really rocky. It has taken quite the long time but I am almost done. I have an issue though, my pcie cables cant connect to my graphics card because there is a little piece of plastic sticking out. How can I fix this?

Also, I have seen the plastic bit in videos, but it is somehow never a problem. Is there a special way to connect it to the gpu?

Are you talking about the clip that holds it in when you plug it in? If it won't fit, you are not pushing them in the right way, either off center or backwards. That connection should just slide over the power plug on the video card.
