PCIe Connector question

Hello,
I made a thread a few days back asking whether I should upgrade my GPU or CPU first, and I was recommended to upgrade my GPU.

The GPU that was recommended isn't available in Australia.
So I decided to go with this GPU instead (haven't purchased it yet):
https://www.pccasegear.com/products/36001/asus-rog-geforce-gtx-1060-strix-gaming-oc-6gb

On PCPartPicker I get this compatibility issue:
1 additional PCI-Express pcie8-pin power connector is needed.

My PSU has a cord which is labelled with 6PIN PCIe (with a 6 pin connector)
then another cord that comes off that labelled with 6+2PIN PCIe (with a 2 pin connector)

The GPU takes an 8 pin connector

Will this work or is PCPartPicker correct?

Thanks

Solution

6+2 IS a 8-pin

also "600w" tells us nothing, as not all power supplies are actually capable of delivering their stated wattage without blowing up

It depends on how high of a wattage your powersupply has but that 6+2 pin PCIe cable should work fine. If you have not bought the powersupply yet, I would try selecting a different PSU to see if pcpartpicker is correct or not

The PSU is 600 watts and PCPartPicker estimates the complete build to use 266 watts

The 6+2 pin should work fine
