Question PCIE Expansion Cards Bricking Themselves?

I recently did a stupid and didn't check a modular cable before installing it (DOIII). Luckily my hard drives survived, but it seeemed at the time like I had killed my pcie to sata expansion card. I replaced it and everything worked for a bit, but as soon as I rebooted my computer the card died on me. I bought a new one, repeated the process and same thing except this time the hard drives never showed up. Does anyone have any idea what's happening? Cpu ryzen 5 3600
Mobo msi b450 carbon gaming ac
Psu Thermaltake toughpower 1200(one of the pcie connectors got melted but it still works)
Hdds 4tb server drives (various makes and models)
Os unraid

To be clear it won't post with the card in at all, hard drives connected or disconnect.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, used, refurbished)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?
