Gen 4 drives are backwards compatible with gen 3 slots.only GEN 4 compatible motherboard's and laptops

Yes I Know its backwards comp buddie Its just they wont get the speeds on the 4th genGen 4 drives are backwards compatible with gen 3 slots.
For a gen 3 laptop, I would go with an SK Hynix P31. It's a solid drive, and is very power efficient.I'm adding a m.2 SSD to my MSI GS75 Stealth 9SF laptop which is a PCIe Gen 3 motherboard. I'm seeing Gen 3 and Gen 4 at the same prices. Any advantage/disadvantage in the choice on this laptop?
