Question PCIe Gen 4 or Gen 3 SSD in a Gen 3 laptop?

I'm adding a m.2 SSD to my MSI GS75 Stealth 9SF laptop which is a PCIe Gen 3 motherboard. I'm seeing Gen 3 and Gen 4 at the same prices. Any advantage/disadvantage in the choice on this laptop?

If you ever want to use it in another pc that has Gen 4 MB you can get full speeds out of it, otherwise no real advantage, and certainly no disadvantage.

Gen 5 is on the cards at some stage
Would need to go Gen 4 Version laptops

Gen 4 drives are backwards compatible with gen 3 slots.

For a gen 3 laptop, I would go with an SK Hynix P31. It's a solid drive, and is very power efficient.

I would go with a Gen 3 drive.
Less power and heat, and zero performance difference in a Gen 3 M.2 port.
