Question PCIE Gen3x2 board with gen3x4 ssd?

Hey All,

I currently own an Asus ROG Zephrus GA502D. There are two PCIe Gen 3x2 slots in the mother board. One is currently filled with the factory SSD but I'm looking to expand the storage and add a 500gb m.2 SSD. Im shopping around on PC part picker and seems one of the better deals is the Silicon Power 512 GB NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen 3x4 2280 ssd.

I am wondering if a gen 3x4 ssd will still work in a gen 3x2 slot.

Thanks for the help. It seems like there aren't many 3x2 drives out anymore so I think ill just stick with the 3x4 stick. That way, I can pull it out and use again if I ever upgrade to a desktop.
