I really don't understand PCIe Lanes. I've made a post in the past that touches on it and when I consider adding a piece I'm once again left with uncertainty.

My PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RFny7T

Quick breakdown:
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor
Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard
EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB BLACK GAMING Video Card
Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
Seagate 2 TB BarraCuda 3.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive (7200 RPM, 256 MB Cache, SATA 6 Gb/s, Up to 220 MB/s, Model: ST2000DMZ08/DM008)
Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

I'm considering adding another M.2, same as the other but 1TB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZY2F...olid=2WMFWT03XM1JS&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Also considering this Elgato https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014MQIVP...olid=2WMFWT03XM1JS&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

So i will end up with my GPU, two M.2, a sata HDD, also have a dvd drive and then a capture card. Also from what i understand USBs also take up a little bit?

I guess my question is do I have enough lanes and also how many I have (i think it's 24 as per the Ryzen 3900x) and how much this would all be using?

Is it just 24 lanes because of my CPU or does my mobo add more lanes? Sorry for all the noob questions haha

Solution
Here's the breakdown:
  • The CPU has 24 lanes
    • 4 of these communicate with the chipset
    • 4 of these are "general purpose", usually used for an M.2 slot
    • 16 of these are for graphics card slots. While these are split up among 2, maybe 3 x16 slots, as long as only one card is populating said slot, it'll get all 16 lanes
  • The chipset provides the rest. These are usually distributed on the 1x PCIe slots.
