[SOLVED] PCIe m.2 drive not working correctly

Hi, so it’s been a while since I’ve done any of building about 10 years or so. I recently bought a new pc, so I’ve used up all the sata spots for other drives I’ve previously had. So I bought a pcie card ( https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=575 ) and a 1tb crucial m.2. I’ve installed it into the pcie slot since there’s also a sata slot. I’ve installed the card into my motherboard ( https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/TUF-Z390-PLUS-GAMING/ ) into the pcie slot 3.0/2.0 x 16 slot 2 seeings as the only one it will fit. So the m.2 drives activity light is just staying red. Can anyone give me some direction? Or even other options. My cpu is a i7 9700k also.

What kind of M.2 Drive did you get? A SATA or NVMe PCIe?

Did I order the wrong drive?
I just assumed that the card would mount the drive. As I said I haven’t been in the pc scene for a bit now.

If you want to use that M.2 you'll need to plug in a SATA cable on the card to a SATA port on your mobo otherwise you need a different M.2 since that one you bought is SATA.
