Question PCIE port for CPU power

Just signed up today to make my own thread.

I have an XFX pro 850w xxx edition

And would like to know if i could use one of the PCIE port modular and connect a cable to make it 4+4 pin CPU cable.

No you cannot use that. You need the 4+4 pin cpu cable, from XFX.

Thats the thing. There is no PCIE/CPU port in this PSU. But on some modern PSU, the pcie is shared with CPU thats labelled PCIE/CPU port.

You think i would need Xfx cable or its time to buy a new one with 2x Cpu ports.

Ok im sorry. Iv just researched and yes my PSU does have pcie/cpu port that also 8 pin. Ill have to buy that particular xfx one.

Is it by chance there is a reason why i need the xfx brand cable and not the corsair?

Because PSU makers don't use the same wiring pinouts, PSU side. You risk frying something, using a cable, from another company.

Your right. Do you know a site that do custom cableing thats not xfx?

Ok so i have a store near me that sells cable mods for seasonic.
I do know that this particular xfx psu is made by seasonic.
Could it by chance that cable mods seasonic be able to work on my xfx psu

Chances are, that you'll kill your pc with a wrong cable. Use only cables, that were supplied with your PSU.
There has to be cable with CPU written on it.

cable mods offers cables for seasonic RT-series that happens to work on xfx pro 850w xxx edition.

I also just bought another PSU from corsair because it was on thesame price as the cable mods.
