(preface)
So this past week I bought some cable sleeving and decided some custom sleeved cables would add a nice flare to my PC and be a fun afternoon/weekend activity. I watched some videos on how to do it. seemed easy enough. I sleeved my 24pin ATX power and the 8 pin CPU power and they work just fine. to make sure i didnt get any pins back in the wrong order, I only removed one pin at a time to sleeve them, then put it back into the connector. that cable (24pin, and the 8 pin CPU power cable) work just fine and i am quite proud of the result.
(problem)
Now the graphics card PCIE power is where im having trouble. I have a gtx 770 being powered by a corsair CX600M. that PSU has a 8 pin on the PSU and the gtx 770 is a 6,6+2.
The cord that came with my PSU is an 8 on one end (for the PSU) and 2, (6+2)'s on the other. I thought, oh it would look a lot nicer if i clipped one of those (+2)'s off so i didnt have it just hanging there. so I clipped the (+2) from the farthest end of the cable and began sleeving. now when i have this cord in, connected to my GPU, my computer does not start.
(without the cable in and the card just hanging there my pc runs just fine, as i am writing this from my pc)
In order, the cable now looks like this,
PSU>8pin PCIE>6+2 pin>6 pin>GPU
(resolution)
I have two options (i think) i can either buy a new cord, which i cannot find as a singular purchase, only available as a kit of all modular cables for my PSU; or pull all the pins out of the cable and rewire it myself, which i wouldnt mind doing, its just that i dont know where each cord would go and i was hoping that someone would help out a poor soul like myself, and tell me which pin from the PSU end goes to which end on the graphics card side of the wire.
As a reward i will let you pick my desktop backgroud that ill keep for a while as a Thank you.
