PCIE PWR1 connection

i have a msi b360 gaming plus mobo with gtx 1080. do i need to plug 6pin cable to pcie_pwr1 slot?

Try it without connecting it and see if it works. If not, then you know you need to. Honestly, though, there's no reason not to connect it.

I have the same board, however I have a msi gt 730. The manual says to connect them all, but I have read I didn't need to have it connected. Do I need to connect it the gt 730 doesn't need any external power. This is my first build also. Is there any harm in connecting it even if I don't need it?
