I'm trying to put a new graphics card in and it's a PCIe x16. For some reason the motherboard on my computer only has PCIe x1 slots. I want to avoid having to replace the motherboard at all costs, as I have never performed an upgrade that big before. I thought about using a PCIe extender like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Express-Adapter-Extender-Flexible-Extension/dp/B008BZBGPO?tag=viglink20237-20

I am pretty sure this would mean the card only runs at x1 speed, but how much of a difference would that make?

Wow a foxconn board that HP have removed the PCI express slot on!!

You can clearly see the pins & solder where it would sit.

You'll be wasting your money on a riser & a GPU , it don't work on a pci-express x1 slot at all.

I'm assuming this means I'll have to upgrade the mobo?
