PCSX2 Low Graphics

So I am trying to play my old favourite PS2 game, Shadow of the Colossus, on my PC but the graphics seem to be incredibly low, much lower than I remember. Does anyone know a way to tweak PCSX2 properly so I can see a significant increase in my graphics, or suggest another way I can play without the PS2?

Which GPU plugin are you using? I've always preferred GSDX over ZeroGS, personally. Both should allow you to upscale the native resolution a bit, which should sharpen the image.

Game runs slow even on modern hardware, and has a few known bugs to work out.
