I think my PDC has problem. When I tried to start Server
Manager in my PDC, I have the following error.

Could not find Primary DC for this domain. You may ...

After closing the error message window, nothing was
displayed in the Server Manager window.

Does anybody know what is missing or what is corrupted?

Brgds,
Joseph

Hi Joseph,

The most common cause for this error is to have
WINS running on the PDC but not having it point
towards itself for it's primary and secondary WINS
server in it's tcp/ip properties. Another reason is
having a SAMBA server running in DC mode.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your response.

Since I am a newbie in NT arena, can you tell me where
should I perform modifications?

Brgds,
Joseph Liu

No problem. To change the primary and secondary
WINS server open the propterties of the tcp/ip protocol
using the network applet in the control panel. Next click
on the tcp/ip protocol and click on the WINS tab. If you
have a SAMBA server on your network then you'll have
to check with SAMBA on how to remove the domain
controller function.
