PDF Printer Software w/o Malware?

I have a document in Word that I need to convert/print to a high quality PDF file. However, Word's built in "save as PDF" and "export to PDF" functions compress my pictures no matter if I tell them not to and no matter what settings I change or choose. Thus, I was looking for 3rd party software to print it to a PDF, but every option I've found is said to contain some type of malware. Are there any options I can download that do not contain malware? For instance, "CutePDF" was recommended a lot in the past, but now users say it contains rootkits and all other types of problems.

I'd strongly prefer not to pay, but would if it's the only option.

I have. It still compressed some images (or saved them at a lower quality) - pixelation is evident on some pictures in the PDF file, but not the Word file.
