Hi all,

When you sacrifice a Pentavite token using the second ability
of Pentavus, does the token go to the graveyard?

I'm quite sure this one is a yes, but one of the players in my
game really wanted me to double check.

Pentavus
{7}
Artifact Creature
0/0
Pentavus comes into play with five +1/+1 counters on it.
{1}, Remove a +1/+1 counter from Pentavus: Put a 1/1 Pentavite
artifact creature token with flying into play.
{1}, Sacrifice a Pentavite: Put a +1/+1 counter on Pentavus.

Thanks!

- Dave

Since "sacrifice" means "move an object you control from in-play zone to
its owner's graveyard", the tokens DO go to the graveyard and may
trigger many abilities like those of Disciple of the Vault, Soul Net
etc. The fact that they immediately cease to exist is irrelevant - it
happens AFTER they went to the graveyard (as a state-based effect), not
INSTEAD of... See glossary entry for "Sacrifice" and rule 420.5f

Yes, it does. Tokens move between zones just like any other
permanents, of course if they leave play they cease to exist - but
that happens only after they arrive (and thus after they trigger
appropriate effects such as Disciple of the Vault).

Yes. It ceases to exist the next time state-based effects are checked,
so there's no way to reanimate it or anything like that, but it *does*
momentarily go to your graveyard and anything that triggers from this
will happen just as it would for any other creature.

Yes. It then a moment later is caused to Cease To Exist by a state-based
effect, the one that says "tokens that are not in play cease to exist",
420.5f .

Tokens that are sent to another zone go to the other zone just fine. They
then Evaporate before ANYTHING else can be added to the stack or resolved off
the stack, before anyone gets priority, before any mana abilities or special
actions can be taken, etc.; a state-based effect erases them from the zone
that's not the "in play" zone.

They will trigger things that trigger off a creature going to the graveyard
from play (or an artifact doing so, or an artifact creature doing so) just
fine.
