Hello, I have an optiplex gx280 desktop with the specs listed here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/361759-31-upgrading-beast-optiplex-gx280-compatibility
Anyways, I have the Intel 915G Chipset I believe, and currently a Pentium 4 530J SL7PU @ 3.0 ghz.
This is what I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Pentium-4-3-0-GHz-1MB-800-MHz-FSB-SL7PU-/190716962785?pt=CPUs&hash=item2c679de7e1#ht_481wt_1346
My question is, can I install the Pentium 4 662, which has the same socket (775) but there are mixed reviews of compatibility according to a few threads here.
Here is the processor I'm talking about: http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTEL-Pentium-4-P4-662-3-6GHZ-2M-800-MHz-Cache-SL8QB-/200634817531?pt=CPUs&hash=item2eb6c45bfb#ht_2397wt_1095
If the above processor is not compatible, I have read that I can for sure use this, so is it worth the extra money? Here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Pentium-4-650-3-4-GHz-775-CPU-SL8Q5-2M-800-HT-64-Dell-GX280-/280957052135?pt=CPUs&hash=item416a5864e7#ht_1698wt_1095
Thanks!
