Anyone know wether i will be able to overclock a Pentium D 915 to 4GHz or more using air cooling with the Asus P5ND2-SLI?!

I currently have a 805 at 3.7GHz with watercooling and can't seem to get it past 3.8GHz... i don't really want to spend £110 on a D915 planing to oc to 4GHz then get stuck at 3.8GHz!

Although i do need a CPU for my media center build! :S

Help please 😀

Isnt the d915 running on 800(200*4) fsb ?
The whole trick behond the d805 OC is that it runs on a 533 fsb, meaning that on any modern chipset all you have to do is to up the fsb to 166,180 or 200 and voila - there's your overclock.

If you start from 200(800)fsb... You need something close to 300(1200)fsb to get your d915 to run at 4ghz ... I doubt you'll be able to do that with a d9xx series chip, let alone on air.

Of course thats just my 2c, wait for other ppl to chime in before you make a decision.

Well i was under the impression and am pretty sure the Bus/Core Ratio for the 915 is 14.0!

So it would be more or less around - 290 x 14.0 to hit 4GHz!

I have also read of people running on stock cooler at 3.64GHz (260 FSB x 14 3.64GHz)

So if i stuck on a Scythe Ninja i should easily be able to get to 4GHz !?

Anyone confirm this for me!? I think i will buy the cpu as i need a new one...
