Pentium d960 vsCore 2 Duo E6700

Hello, my motherboard supports processors with fsb 1066.Which would give greater performance?If i try to run 1333 fps processors it will work, but fsb will be 1066, but do i get all performance?
So i need to choose two cores cpu.
Which is better d960 or e6700?

Any Core 2 Duo or Pentuim Dual Core is better than a Pentium D clock-for-clock. Go with the E6700 it is newer technology compared to the Pentium D.

So im going to go woth core dou. There is other supported by motherboard moddel E7300 it's 45nm. E6700 Is 65 clock speads are same, but e7300 have 3mb l2 cache, e6700 l2 cache is 4 mb. So do you think i should take e7300 becouse it's 45nm, but with lover l2 cache? Do i loose performance if i choose e7300, than e6700?

I would take E7300 over E6700 because of the 45nm fabrication despite having slightly lesser cache.

Both will be comparable , get the cheaper one.

Both are better than a Pentium D.

Heres a comparison of the two closest CPUs I could find for the E6XXX and E7XXX series to show how the L3 makes a difference.

E7500 on top is 2.93 ghz
E6850 on the bottom is 3.0 ghz.
You will never notice a difference of .07ghz when everything else is the same.

I would expect the E6700/E7300 results to be relationally the same. They trade wins and are close enough that you'll either have to go with a specific app that you want to perform better than the others or as said above, go with the cheapest. The E7300 will use a little less power and create a little less heat, so if they are the same price, the E7300. Can't go wrong with either though over the PD.

This is what i've been able to find for you.

But since ASUS website says it supports E7300,it will run with the mobo.

Can i overclock e7300 to 1333fsb?And if i can what core speed it would be?

If you were to OC the FSB to 1333, your E7300 would be 3.5ghz. It has a 10.5 multiplier. The E7300 should hit that just fine and maybe more with the right cooling.

With 1333Mhz FSB you will get ~ 333X10=3333Mhz
That's 3.33Ghz.

AFAIK You can get that much even without voltage bump .

Nowadays,My CPU idles around 33-35C and Maxes out at 57-59C(Prime95 )
Some days back(Winters) it Idled at 28C and maxed out around 45C
In coming days(Summers) it'll be Idling at 40-43c and not above 60c(Last summer experience ).


Temps depend a lot on the cooling and Ambient temp.
Where I live it gets a little hot.

I have stock cooling.
Also my case is an el-cheapo one.So not very good Airflow...

With proper cooling this CPU can do wonders

The E7xxx and E8xxx are great chips very powerful at stock speeds and when youy overclock them they do wonders. I have an E8200 stock is 2.66ghz i got it running stable 3.8ghz very easily and runs idle at 28 and load about 55 it can even go higher if it wasnt for my ram. The E7300 will be great for you if you have a good motherboard and a decent cooler 4 ghz is not that hard to achieve.

I was looking at the 7400 on newegg for reference since the 7300 is not longer offered.

SAAIELLO, I'd add all the wolfdales to the great chip catagory. Even the E5xxx are top performers when overclocked. I've had my E5200 up to 4ghz, but the voltage was high for my comfort. Made 3.6 just over stock voltages.

So doweeez, you really can't go wrong with the E7300, its almost a sure thing.

I almost bought a lot of 100 socket 478 P4s i was gonna use them as tiles on a table grout them up real nice i thought it would look cool but the guy wanted 140 for them i am not sure who would actully buy 100 of those things.
