I was wondering which CPU would be better with an R9 280 or a GTX 960, a Pentium G3258 (overclocked to 5ghz) or an FX-8320 (overclocked to 5ghz).

Would there be bottlenecking with the Pentium?
Is the Pentium better due to upgradability?
Which GPU is better and with which CPU?

Solution
Both the R9 280 and the GTX 960 are really on par with each other, so go with the cheapest you find.

As for the CPU, in that scenario the FX-8320 would be better, having said that, for that amount of money you should be able to get a i3-4330 or similar, which although you can't really OC for not being a K version, it should be able to perform similar to a FX-8320 while keeping the upgrade path open for a i5-i7 down the road.
