The pentium is allot cheaper. I have liquid cooling, so if I just overclock the Pentium, will it give the same if not better performance than the I5 in games? Only playing games on this build. If I buy the G3258, the extra money will be saved to buy a stronger power supply, so I can buy another 760 and run them in SLI. (PLaying games like battlefield 3 + 4)

Current pc specs:
Core I3 3220 3.3ghz dual core
MSI GTX 760 2GB twin frozer
8GB 1600mhz RAM
520 watt power supply
Will be upgrading Motherboard to the MSI Z97S SLI PLUS.

the Pentium brand is like a small step up from celeron just because you overclock it doesn't mean it will get you to I5 performce if that was the case everyone would be getting AMD quad cores at 4 ghz so with the pentium even if it is newer you may you may find it will be of lower performance than your I3 if you are looking for gaming go with the I5 or at least a current gen I3

ok after i saw that, I will be rather going with the I5. Thanks all

Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like its running at 3.2 which would be stock... A fairly simple overclock should produce 4.5-4.7 pretty easy. At that speed it should be comparable to a 2500K, which although it isnt at the same level as the 4590, it would be $100 cheaper which could buy a decent watercooler.... Such as the one on sale at frys for 69.99....240mm radiator.

Thats on aircooling btw.. however for other than just gaming multicore processing can really shine. I actually own a 4590 and I'm very happy with it. After overclocking multiple AMD/INTEL cpu's, Ive grown tired of the instability etc.. that come with it. For example after overclocking a 965 Quad core @ 3.8~4.0 (stock 3.4) for 3-4 years it's hard to keep it much higher than stock using fairly decent Noctua air-cooling.
