Pentium G630 or Athlon II x4 631?

Hello, i want to buy a new PC for gaming on 1440x900 resolution.
I can get an Pentium G630 or Athlon II x4 631 for about the same price. I m wondering which one is a better value for money.
I will overclock the CPU as high as i can. I know that the FM1 Socket has no upgrade path but, as i wont be upgrading CPU for about 4-6 years any current socket should be obsolete by then. My GPU will probably be HD 6670 or HD 6770 if it is worth the additional 35$.

The pentium will be the better choice it is more powerful in every aspect you don't really need to spend a lot on a gaming computer and this is a prime example the pentium+6770 duo can play bf3 well albeit low to medium quality so it shouldn't struggle on most games but instead of the 630 get the 840 they are the same price in most stores at least in the uk i do not know about serbia. Also it's worth spending the extra money for a 6850 or 6790 if you can.

If this was to last a year or 2 (at a push) I would have said the 630 it performs better gaming currently though outside of gaming in apps that use 4 cores the athlon leads.

4-6 years though? thats a long time in technology and if I was making your choice I think I would take the Athlon X4 as things become more multithreaded in the future I think that would possibly stand the long term test better.

Thats my opinions though predicting the future is something nobody can do. Educated guesses at best.

Even an old Core 2 Duo with the 6770 could max out BF3 on 1400X900 with 35-40 fps. Ultra sets. The 840 is almost the price of an i3 everywhere else in Europe. It's no use, cause if you have money for the 840, you're much better off with higher clocks and HT. (i3-2100-i3-2120)

The G620 or G630 are superior in gaming. Forget the 6670. 6750 is 2x faster, let alone the 6770. So if you have the bucks, go for the 6770 or above. (6790/6850)

Be sure to have a good psu though. 400W is enough. You can look for quality ones in cheaper versions like Cooler Master Lite series, Chieftec iArena or RaptoXx Classic series.

Avoid brands like HKC, Codegen, Kraun, LC power. Those are very cheap and sh**ty. They can destroy your whole PC.
