I have an old laptop that i intend to use to work when visiting fish farmers at field.

It now has a pentium T4300 (dual core; 2,0Ghz; 800mhz fsb; 1mb cacheL2) on a Intel GL40 chipset motherboard.

It uses socket P.

What can i upgrade to?

It also uses 2GB ddr2@667 adata at single chanell (1x2GB). (I`ll upgrade to 4GB).

Main use will be: excel spreadsheets, google earth and other mapping programs.

Ps: It looks like it can`t handle FullHD videos, despite having a HDMI port. Cpu usagge goes to 100% on both cores. Is there any chance that a cpu upgrade will solve this?

You can`t upgrade a cpu on a laptop. its physically soldered onto the socket

It uses Socket P, it is NOT bga. I removed the cpu myself and then reinstalled it. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_P
