FX is not a good investment either - it's an end of the line platform with no upgrade possibilities that is going to be replaced relatively soon. We're talking a 5 year old motherboard with a 3 year old processor. Right now your best options are an Intel i3-6100 or i5-6400.

That will be a much better purchase than either of the two proposed builds. I wouldn't attempt to overclock a Pentium G and expect that it will perform better than an i3-6100.

Instead of spending $ 170+ why not buy a i3-6100 for $125.
It is a superior gamer.
