Performance between Intel Pentium G3420 and Intel Core i3 4150

I using my PC for gaming, game i play is Leauge of Legend and other game offline like BF4,Watch Dog, and other offline game with setting medium and maybe high depend on game system requiment. My Friend say is i3 4150 is just better 5-10% than the Pentium G3420 @@ is that true ? Because the Pentium G3420 price around 75$ and the i3 is around 150$, if it true why i have to pay for one Intel Core i3 just better than 5%-10% instead of i can buy Pentium G3420 and 75$ i can buy a better VGA or other part ? So help me Give me some advice about this two CPU. Tks all you guys a lot

You can say that's true, but I don't think buying both of that CPU for gaming is a good idea, in fact you can achieved FAR BETTER performance by going with Pentium G3258, it's overclockable and the rest is depends on your GPU.

No an i3 4150 is more like 40% better. It's worth the money for sure.

The i3 is nowhere near 40% better than the pentium (not even at totally stock clocks), and tea urchin... no. Just no. The Pentium will feel like JUST as modern a chip as the i3, and will SIGNIFICANTLY out perform the i3 in gaming after it's been overclocked.

So I'm thinking about the Pentium G3258 it OC able so when i buy it which motherboard will best for G3258 OC to about 4.0Ghz and run daily without anny issue ? And the Power Supply 400w 500W 600W ? And the G3258 Bus ram is 1333 i3 4150 is 1600, RAM bus 1333 and 1600 can see anny different ?

The OP asked about the i3 4150 vs g3420. That i3 is at LEAST 40% faster overall. The Pentium g3258 is another story. I will easily outperform the i3 in some tasks. I would still take the i3 though. The g3258 would win in some games, but would be completely terrible in others. The i3 is more balanced. I will ALWAYS choose hyperthreading over overclocking whether we're talking about the i3 vs g3258 or the i5 4690k vs e3-1231v3.

Even your 'fun novelty' item can beat the hell out of i3 if it's OC'd..

For gaming i would choose an i3 as a minimum. Pentiums are dead for gaming.Far Cry 4 does not even run on Pentium cpu and expect very poor performance in Witcher 3 and GTA V when they're released. i3 minimum or amd fx6300.

Get the i3 if you can, or the g3258 if your budget is really tight.
