performance difference of OCZ performance, platinum or gold?

Is there any difference in performance of OCZ performance, platinum and gold series at same frequency?

Are RAM manufacturers conning customers into buying memory based on superficial looks?

OCZ usually uses diffeerent module withd ifferent performance characteristics in the different modules. For example OCZ4001024 ELDCGE-K gold used Winbond UTT BH-5 with 2-2-2-5 -1t timings. It could take up to 3.6 volts and overclock to 255mhz @2-2-2-5 although 240 was the max practical. OCZ4001024ELDCP-K Platinum was Samsung TCCD that was 2-2-2-5-1t at 200mhz. But relax the timings to 3-4-3-8 and you could overclock to 300mhz at 2.9volts. Performance tended to be micron chips similar to what was in ballistix. http://www.techpowerup.com/memdb/

What memory modules are used in which models now I haven't a clue since I don't use either DDR-1gb or DDR2. Both are decidedly inferior to the Winbond and Samsung TCCD memory.

thanks for link casewhite. I had no idea winbond RAM is better. Why the heck are OCZ and Corsair selling the DDR ram if they are inferior? what other memory can I buy except these brands in canada? If I choose no name brand, I wouldn't know if they use winbond.
