I'm debating whether I should upgrade from my 2600 non-k to a 6700k. With the motherboard I have, I am unable to turbo the CPU at all so I am stuck at 3.4Ghz. With a 6700k, I would plan on going to about 4.5Ghz. I primarily play games and stream music/videos, with the occasional video rendering. Is there a significant performance increase? Money isn't really a concern for this upgrade, I just don't want it to be a waste. Thanks!

in your case i really think it is...and you play high end games...especially if you plan to upgrade the GPU further in years to come...i think a CPU upgrade will be very good...the i7-2600 will limit the GTX 1080 in that you will get...

yes the performance increase in games is noticeable...but that would depend on what graphics card you are using and which games you play and at what resolution...would you mind feeding me a bit more info?

I currently have a RX 480 OC'ed a bit, play at 1080p, and play all kinds of games. Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Witcher 3, Rainbow Six, GTA, WoW, etc. I am a pretty diverse gamer. I do intend on upgrading to 1440p and a GTX 1080 in a few months, I just want the price of a 6700k to be justified.
