Question Performance issues in games - GPU/Driver?

Hello,

I've searched the forums and subreddits and couldn't find anything to help with my issue.

I'm having an issue where my GPU time is over 20ms (Usually under 5) and FPS drops into the 40s as soon as I get to the search for game screen, this also continues into the game making it unplayable. I used DDU to delete drivers completely and install new drivers, the game will run flawlessly until I restart my PC, the same thing will happen if I do driver roll back, game runs fine until I restart my PC.

I've tried changing video settings, using DDU, changing windows settings, updating BIOS, reinstalling the game, and no luck. When I run the in-game benchmark, it'll show my GPU at 100% and CPU at around 8-10% (I see this with the afterburner overlay)

Has anyone encountered anything like this before?

PC specs: 10700k 3080

edit: changed thread title to indicate that this is happening in all gpu demanding games.

to have a look what the problem could be:
run userbenchmark.com and post the http link of your result, e.g. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/28977730

Reset the BIOS by jumper clrCMOS or JBAT or similar (eventually you will have to set the boot priority correctly after that)

check windows integrity
open the command prompt as administrator and type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

clean boot

check the memory by running memtest.org usb autoinstaller (bootable USB flash drive)

run the RAM @2133MHz to check if it happens then too

check the hard drive for errors with its manufacturer´s tool and if available, update the firmware

use ddu uninstaller in safe mode and reinstall the latest graphics driver

Thanks for the reply.

userbenchmark results:

I will run do the other recommended tasks when I get back from work.

I have done ddu in safe mode and no luck with that, the game runs great when I boot back into windows and connect to internet and download the drivers, but after a restart it goes back to poor performance.

Update:
Still having the issue but I have attempted the following:

I have performed the memtest.org test, it passed.

Firmware was up to date for the hard drive, just had to update the western digital software.

Checked windows integrity - ran sfc and dism scans, sfc found errors but fixed them.

As mentioned above I have previously done ddu in safe mode.

Tried running the RAM without the XMP profile enabled and still have performance issue.

I have run userbenchmark a few times and the latest result is with all these completed.

check temperature and power limit of the GPU
you can use e.g. GPU-Z

is something installed like afterburner or the evga precision tool,...?

does the GPU have dual BIOS? which BIOS is currently enabled?

Fixed it but don't know what the problem was.

I ran cod benchmark while using the log data function in gpu-z, looked over the log data and found that the gpu throttles down to 225mhz like a second into the benchmark, you mentioned afterburner and everything looked fine but I increased power limit to 105% from 100% and all performance issues went away, even reverting it back to 100% the performance was still good.

Thanks for the help,
Cheers.👍
