Performance issues in gaming after upgrading PC (CPU, Motherboard)

I recently upgraded my PC by installing a new CPU and motherboard and things have started to get annoying. I have been having major issues with running games at a steady frame rate with drops which lead to stuttering and and all around poor performance. I formatted both of my hard drives, installed all of the required drivers and they are all up to date. I have been struggling to play battlefield 4 on any graphics settings, including low and Guild Wars 2. Both of these games perform terribly on my system since the upgraded parts were put in and fail to keep a steady frame rate. Both of these games played fine on my old set up and I'm confused and irritated because I don't understand why putting better parts in would cause the games to play worse. I have tried:
-Unparking cores
-Uninstalling Microsoft C++ 2010 (x86)
-Uninstalling and re-installing the games that run poorly.
Any help and suggestions to help me fix this problem that I am having would be appreciated. Thanks
My specs:
AMD FX-9370
Corsair H100i liquid cooling
Radeon 5970 - Black Edition
Kingston Predator 2400Mhz RAM
1TB Seagate Pipeline
1TB Seagate Barracuda
1000w Coolermaster silent pro
Asrock Extreme4 970 motherboard
All running on Windows 7

The items that were replaced
Intel i7 920 2.66GHz
Gigabye (not sure which one) motherboard

Solution
The fx9370 is only compatible with the selected 990FX motherboards. Your 970 chipset MB maybe have problem to use the fx9370, beause the fx9370's TDP ( thermal design power ) = 220W, you can check what is your cpu frequency. You should buy the better 990 chipset MB for the FX 9 series cpu.

Are there any tests I could do to check the compatability of my CPU with my motherboard. And could you send me some links to the better 990 chipset motherboards?
