Hi!
I recently helped rebuild my nephews PC and we had to replace the mobo, cpu and ram. I got a combo deal off newegg but didnt realize the combo came with a single 8GB stick of PC3 12800... I Just assimed 2 x 4gb. The mobo is ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77.
At any rate, after we all got it running I saw a screen somewhere that said "running in single channel mode" or something like that.
Seems to perform fine but I am wondering if only having 1 slot populated is hampering performance? I seem to recall reading once that you want to install memory in pairs if possible?
Thanks in advance.
