Hello,
I am tired of the periodic lag that spikes suddenly while playing ANY GAME (Battlefield BC2 , Call of duty etc.).When I start playing the game runs smooth for about 20 - 30 min and then a lag spikes reducing the frame rate for 5 min and the game is not playable. after 5 min it again runs smooth and so on it goes on and on. i have surfed the net for about 3 months and cannot find a solution . Please help
A few months ago i noted another thing that whenever the game lags the process
called "System idle process " goes to 98% and as it dropsand goes to around 50% the game again runs fine

My system specs
Processor : Intel(R) Core(Tm)2 Cpu 4300 @ 1.80Ghz 1.80 Ghz
Installed memory (RAM):3.00 GB
System Type : 32-bit Operating System
Graphic card : Nvidea geforce 9500gt
Please Help

overheating generally doesn't cause that, as when a CPU overheats the computer is automatically turned off and the fans are left running for another 2-3 seconds or so. When a gpu overheats everything will either turn black and not return to normal (computer still running) or will freeze and NOT return at all until the pc is manually restarted. check your bios, sometimes fans will show up in the bios but not in the operating system. I still stand with my view as power supplies fatigue over time and when gaming is when the most power is being drawn from the power supply and i think that it starts to struggle giving constant power to that card, what power supply do you have?

that is pretty much the limit for even the notoriously hot running gtx 480, you can find out what your power supply is if you open you case either at the top or bottom will be a big metal box, its likely to have information on it such as brand, wattage and certifications, please note those.

thats seems more like power supply fatigue as your power supply is can only supply just enough enough power to make your pc run, and since its always on full load it is likely to overheat and may need replacing, i would get that power supply checked at a pc specialist first.

is there a program to check the power supply projectIII
And yes i think you are right because when my game runs smooth the temp. is 110 C (of gpu) and when it lags there is no change in the temp. and so i dont think its a gpu prob. and think might be another problem like PSU fatigue etc.

Should i upgrade to a higher voltage psu or the same voltage as before
