I have an iBuyPower gaming box (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypo...0gb-ssd-1tb-hdd-black/6459651.p?skuId=6459651) that's worked well for the last couple years. Lately, however, after a few hours of being turned on, the monitor goes black and the message comes up that there's no signal. The lights are still lit in the tower, but no monitor. I thought perhaps my graphics card was overheating so I downloaded a hardware monitor to watch the temps, and so far, they seem within spec.

I've since observed that when the monitor loses its signal, my keyboard backlighting goes off (I assume the keyboard also disconnects), and I get a message on another computer that the gaming box disconnects from the network. So it seems, even though the tower is on, I'm losing all the peripherals and connections. (monitor=HDMI, keyboard=USB, network=RJ45)

I hold the power button until the tower goes off. I can restart the computer and get everything back. The longer I leave the computer off, the longer it takes before the monitor loses signal. If I leave it off all night, it works all the next day and it doesn't lose the peripherals and connections until the evening. If I leave it off 15 or 20 minutes, it'll work for about an hour before I lose it.

I opened the case, cleaned the screens and fans, and reseated the graphics card and updated the driver early on when I thought it was something with the GPU. I don't klnow where to go now that it seems to involve more systems.

Hey there,

What mobo are you using? Please list the rest of your specs. What bios are you running.

Try different cables, and see if that helps. Try also, using different ports on the GPU.

I don't know. I gave the link to the one I bought hoping whatever info you needed would be in the specs list.

I did not try different cables. Since the monitor loses its signal, AND it drops the keyboard, AND it disconnects from the LAN in the same event, I stopped focusing on the GPU. Do you think replacing the cable and using a different port on the GPU will keep it from disconnecting the keyboard and keep it connected to the LAN?

The reasons to try a different cable/port, is that the current one maybe be faulty. It could in theory cause random issues like yours. Could also be a hardware conflict.

The specs above don't provide the mobo , unfortunately, which is why I asked. You can remedy this by installing/using CPU-z. Open the mainboard tab, and note the motherboard model and the bios version.

The motherboard is ASRock model: B450M/ac r2.0
BIOS is American Megatrends, Inc, version: P2.00 - AMD AGESA Combo-AM 41.0.0.6

If, I'm correct, it looks as though you have never updated your bios. Current one is 3.10. There will have been a lot of updated bug fixes, performance enhancements, and compatibility issues remedied by updating.
I'll need some guidance on this. On the ASRock.com site, it says: "The Flash Memory Writer utility can not suitable for all ASRock motherboards. Please use the Flash utility which is included in each BIOS file to update its BIOS. Also ASRock motherboard MUST use ASRock's Flash utility to update BIOS, those uncertified BIOS flashing tools will cause motherboard damage."

When I look at the list of BIOS updates on the ASRock site, all the ones in the list are for Ryzen 7000 series processors. Can you point me in the right direction? I know I have only one chance to get it right.

Edited to add: I think I found where I'm supposed to be. It looks like the current version (aside from a beta) is V3.10. Wish me luck.

Okay, apparently, I need more guidance.

I followed the instructions (from here: https://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSIG.asp?cat=BIOS10) and updated the BIOS. CPUz shows my BIOS v3.10 now.

The original issue is still present. The only difference that I can tell is the time interval before I lose peripherals and connects is growing shorter. I used to leave the computer off all night and I could run all day until the evening before I lost connections. Now, no matter how long I leave the computer off, I get maybe an hour before I lose connections. Where do I go from here?

I confirmed what I suspected in that when I lose the monitor, keyboard, and network connection, I also lose sound. I also upgraded to Windows 11, with no change to my problem.

Does anyone have any ideas for what I can do next?
