Permanent Black while installing Geforce 342.01 for gt 210 1GB

Heres my specs
CPU: Core2Duo E4500@2.2GHz
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GT 210 1GB

While installing geforce 342.01 driver(which is latest for gt 210) my screen goes black and it doest return.
Even if i force restart my pc it wont return.
It would only return when i revert back to restore point or reinstall OS.
Please help soon and which driver should i use??

Why are you trying to install a new driver? Unless you have a specific reason, it's unnecessary with older videocards.

I am installing as i just made this setup and I need to install it

I am also having the same problem, ie. black screen. I am using an alienware M11x laptop and Geforce nvidia 342.01 driver.

For the past 1 month, I have been looking for a solution in the internet and havent found one, although there are varieties of solutions have been offered and I have tried all those solutions, but none works on my laptop. Most of them suggest to reboot to safe mode, and after that use DDU to uninstall and clean all Nvidia driver related files in the system, and perform a custom install of the driver (Perform Clean Install).

I have done that and once it is finished installing the driver, it reboots and there it goes again, BLACK SCREEN.

Now I am using the standard Intel HD driver, very standard one.

Appreciate any info to solve this. Thanks.

Try an older driver.

When you boot up your Windows installation media, it doesn't provide you with the generic driver?

I have also tried to reinstall windows 10 on my system. The default graphic card driver provided by Windows is the Intel HD driver, which provides a very standard graphic (and the resolution is 1024 x 768 which isn't the optimum graphic for my laptop).
