[SOLVED] Perspective on a 2080 Super (new less than half price)

Hey everyone,
i got the occasion (from a very close friend) to get a completely new GeForce RTX 2080 Super Windforce basically at less than a half price (300\350€, but more 300€) i'm passing him some stuff to him in exchange\helping him in my free time with some miniature painting stuff.

I'm rebuilding the PC in this period, getting a AMD Ryzen 3600x \ 16 GB Ram (3200Mhz) and all other right stuff. I have a 32" MSI Optix 1440p 144Hz curve monitor which i love but with a faithful 1060 6GB i'm not getting the best out of it (i'm selling back this card and my old PC for 400€ on the purchase of the new PC).

I live in Italy, and i dont want to chase the newest 3070\80 cards as probably before late spring they will not be avaiable at reasonable prices here.

Is this new 2080 Super a good occasion at this price considering that my aim is 2k gameplay (not necessarily at 144Hz, it usually go for singleplayer so 60-100 fps range is more than sufficient)? Consider that now i'm getting back 400€ from selling my old PC, maybe in spring this will not be possible at this price. (i5 6600k, 16GB 2400Mhz, GTX 1060 6gb)
Or is better to wait some months and search for a custom 3070\3080?

sounds a good way of doing things I would do what you are thinking works out well for you.

for half price! that sounds like an excellent deal. I would buy it. The new Nvidia cards around that price range probably will not be better than a gtx 2080. plus you won't have to go through all the trouble with scalpers and actually finding one.

Yeah, i was thinking right that - and then, in 1\2 years, maybe found some deal to get some Ray Trancing luxury here and there

The 2080 Super is a good card, I had one for a year. I don’t think you will get better for that price. In your position I think the 2080S and a new cpu/motherboard is a better option than waiting for a 3070/3080. 4 core 4 thread CPU’s are really struggling in some newer games and will prevent you getting much higher than 60fps regardless of gpu choice.

Yeah, i'm noticing that mainly in 2k, because in Full-hd i was going very well but with this new monitor, i feel like is time to do the jump up but at the same way, i feel like next years those 400€ for my good old pc wouldnt be a thing

I own a RTX 2080, not the super, but the 2080 Super is only a few percent faster. It's not a very good 4K card, but I would imagine its a swell 1440p card. I'd say go for it.
