How good petrify spell is? Can I kill with it Emperor Lich?
I'm considering hurthling weaponless priest - I've never played
hurthling (gnomes are waaay better) nor priest (because of these
quirky spell names which prevent me from knowing what's the spell
until cast).

In short, not very good. Anything powerful tends to resist it. At
the very least, it would need many attempts, and I wouldn't be at
all surprised if something very powerful like an Emperor Lich would
never fall to it.
