My large cat just polymorphed into a rock piercer (yee-hah). So I'm
standing around the polymorph trap repeatedly magic whistling it in.
However, after 3 times in the poly trap it still hasn't polymorphed
again. Are piercers immune or something? I'd hate to have to leave it
behind.

OK, thanks, it did polynorph eventually. Reading a scroll of earth
speeded up the process somewhat. After a few tries I stopped at a
hezrou. Then I drank a blessed smoky potion and got a tame genie. So
now I have two &'s following me around. Eh, I would rather have had
the GDSM.

Keep trying. Eventually it will polymorph again. Been doing that some time now
and have a black dragon named Schroedingers Cat now

You don't even have to get it to leave the trap and move back on; if you
can corner the pet in the trap, just wait and it'll repolymorph.
