Am trying to install pfSense on a Dell Dimension DXP061 off a USB and it asks me to input WAN interface name or auto detect. I tried using the auto detect option and it says "No link up detected" and when I try and manually enter the WAN interface name it says invalid. I have tried entering re0 wlan0 etc but it says it is invalid. I have a NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter WG311T and a Intel(R) 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection. If you need any more information please ask.

"re0 wlan0"

Why would you enter in "re0" when you have Intel? re is for Realtek. It's been a few months since I installed PFSense and all I remember is it was strait forward. Are you sure it doesn't give you a list of interfaces? Is your desired WAN interface plugged in?

Side note, PFSense has bad wifi support. The developers primarily work in enterprise areas and you don't use wifi in those situations.

A quick search pf "PFSense YouTube install" returned some really strait forward install guides. Here's one that seemed nice to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txqoJiowDGI
