I built a new rig recently as I do every 4 years or so. Using a EVGA 1080ti and bought an Asus PG279Q and using two other existing monitors on a separate 1060 card. The first PG279Q that I received had this yellow tint it but after doing some google searches, I found that apparently others have had this happen. I returned it to B&H on an RMA. Got the second one, opened it today, hooked it up and WTH! Same thing. Is this even possible?

While I do not normally worry to much about monitor drivers, I did try using the most recent off the Asus website so the Windows 10 settings instead of PnP monitor, show the actual monitor. That made no difference whatsoever. I'm looking for some feedback here before I start a second RMA. Shoot, I don't even have the first one complete yet! If anyone has any suggestions, lmk. I have already hooked up my Asus PB278 to the new 1080ti just to make sure it's working right and it does. I'm using a displayport cable and have tried a new one as well. Suggestions?

I tried that site the first time I ordered the monitor. Despite calibrating, the yellow tint remained. Same this time. Out of curiosity though, did those of you using the website start with a yellow screen?

Edit: So, I did go back to the link above and worked with it, literally for hours. I am somewhat satisfied. I cannot post another photo because the monitors are too close in color now but the color is less of an issue than the brightness. As instructed on that web page, the brightness is at 100% but when compared to the PB278Q, it seems so much less bright. I don't know why this is. It just makes this new monitor looked washed out. It doesn't seem right that I should have to turn down the brightness on the PB278Q to match that of the PG279Q. Especially when the older model is one third the price. I have the brightness on that PB model set to 90% brightness and it blows away the PG model that is set to 100%. Just strange.

So let me just ask this in closing. Does color and brightness matter that much? I use my rig for mostly gaming and web browsing. A little Photoshop but just for photography hobby. I thought I read somewhere that monitor colors don't matter that much in gaming. Is that true? Something to do with the game itself choosing how the colors are displayed?
