So I am building a gtx 1080 gaming PC and I want a really good 1440p monitor and I was choosing between a ips 4md pg279q or a tn 1ms pg278q. Is 1ms to 4ms gonna be a big delay because my monitor currently is 1ms and I played on a 5ms tv and it was a huge delay. So will it be a big difference or should I just get the 1ms Tn pg278q?

Solution
Response time is not delay, I think you are confusing it with input lag which tvs typically suffer from. The response times deal with ghosting and are also not standardized so are not really reliable. Neither model has ghosting issues though and overall the 279 is better.

Solution
It doesn't depend on fast paced or slow paced. Both are 144hz, 279 can get to 165hz oc, anything below 6ms or so would have no ghosting issues. Lower hz monitors don't need it as fast. Many people fall for response time marketing and don't understand what it is. Also as said, it's also not standardized or controlled. Even if 2 different monitors were marketed as 5ms, one could actually be 20ms and the other 8ms. Every monitor has overdrive these days and is used to improve the best times but in normal use would have reverse ghosting. Nobody is going to use the monitor on the fastest settings so you can't expect it to get those response times. You end up having to look at professional reviews, I prefer tftcentral, and see about the ghosting test.
