Phantom 410 case fan clicking

Ever since I've had the PC, the fan would click on startup if the fan speed was set to high. I could resolve this by simply lowering the fan setting, waiting until the clicking eventually stopped, then returning it to a high setting if necessary. This wasn't so much trouble so I ignored the issue; however, now the clicking noise is persistent regardless of fan speed, although significantly less noticeable on lower settings.

Originally I thought the clicking noise to be trouble with the bearings, so I decided to investigate. I have removed the fan from the case and pulled off the plastic cap. After spinning it a few times and pressing on the clip with a pen I notice the clicking only occurs when the fan is vertical. The sound almost entirely stops when set horizontal. This is the back vertical fan so I have no control over it's orientation, and I'd rather not replace the fan unnecessarily.

I'm thinking it has something to do with it being loose somewhere? That would explain why the clicking would occur vertically (back and forth shaking) and less horizontally (good ol' gravity), and would mean that previously the noise would last until it "settled" into place. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I really would love my quiet PC back.

Update: After replacing the fan and powering it up once more, the noise is all but gone. No grease/lube, no adjustments, just some prodding with a pen then everything was replaced. Definitely a situation of something being loose, so the fan is perfectly fine and salvageable. I still would like to avoid this situation in the future of anyone has any helpful advice.
