I'm trying to fix a friend's PC. He had lost his D: drive, but some other phantom drives appeared and the machine was slow. I switched hard drives (C: with D:) assuming the controller on C: had gone bad. Seemed to work. I re-formatted and reloaded W98. Now I have a phantom B: drive. Things seem to be OK in DOS, just screwed up in Windows. Sometimes Windows freezes up too and has trouble restarting. I've reloaded Windows twice. Any ideas?
