My Windows 10 search settings keep reverting to an old configuration after I change settings and I cannot find the current location of the configs. I believe that windows is locating an old location (I changed locations recently) and reverting to those settings.

Example:

I keep changing "Find My Files" from Classic to Enhanced (as seen in screenshot) and I remove all "Excluded Folders" (again, as seen in screenshot there are none).

I will come back later and it will have magically reverted to "Classic" and there will be a number of folders listed under the exclusions. I'll try to grab a screenshot next time it happens and will post below.

Also, I recently changed the save locations to another drive (not OS drive, to save space... my documents gets HUGE). And I think I also changed the search index location in the registry, but I can't find the exact location where I change the registry values. It seems that windows keeps changing where this is located in the registry. I believe that this is the ROOT of my problems. The new version of Windows 10 is referencing different registry values for the search index location, as well as the search configuration settings location (which is why my settings keep changing back).

What is showing in settings/accounts/snyc settings?
perhaps turn Sync off and see if it still occurs, as its possible the old settings are saved on a roaming profile

To stop syncing your settings and remove them from the cloud, turn off synced settings on all the devices connected to your Microsoft account, and then go to the Devices page, select More actions for the device you want to manage, and then select Remove cloud backup of personal settings.
