Question Phantom Spirit 120 fan connectors

Just installed the phantom 120 spirit in my new build. The Spirit comes with a Y cable for the two fans, however my MB (Asus ROG Strix x670e-f) looks like it has 2 CPU fan ports unless I'm reading it wrong. I assume it's better to use the two ports rather than the Y cable? Just wanted to confirm that with the experts here.

Also, does it matter which fan goes in which port?

Yes to two headers, if available. No to connecting what fan to what header.

without any connection to the CPU_FAN header the system will probably not boot.

CPU_OPT usually follows the same settings as CPU_FAN.
just there for easier setup when using a dual fan cooler.

whether you use a splitter and both connect to the single CPU_FAN header,
or just connect those 2 individually to the CPU_FAN & CPU_OPT headers,
it shouldn't really make any difference.
