phantom windows 8 bug won't stop

A good part of you have probably heard of or expirenced the windows 8 bug. You start up, bios loads, windows logo loads, and you get a blank screen with a cursor. Well I have that issue except I can't seem to permanently fix it. I disabled windows updates, because right after an update it happened, It also just randomly happened, and one time it happened after a restart and disk error check. I am at wits end, because this is 3 times on my desktop and 2 times on my laptop. I have a copy of windows 7 which I am thinking of downgrading, but I do like that windows 8 is really snappy. I am also running a custom theme patcher and start is back.

Can you do a System Restore back to before you got the bug?

What anti virus have you tried? Avast, Malwarebytes?

Do you know the name of the virus?

Sorry accidentally hit best answer. I still need help. I have malware bytes, and I am not aware if it is a virus or not. I have done a system restore and a reinstall os, but it came back.

Boot in Safe Mode (F8) and do a System Restore back to before you had the problem.

I also can't find an answer to that. When I select boot safe mode and all that good stuff, it boots up and I see a blank screen with safe mode in all 4 corners. What needs to be done after that?

Should I just load windows 7? I have never ever had a serious virus issue. I am really careful. More likely I install tons of different software and something is conflicting with buggy windows 8.

I think I found the common denominator. It has something to do with the glitchy razer synapse. I un-installed it from the windows restore and my pc works. I will reinstall synapse and refuse future updates for now.
