Phenom 955 bottlenecking GTX 670?

Phenom 955 + GTX 670 + 8GB DDR3

installed Battlefield 1 yesterday and I'm only getting 10 frames a second. Tried Battlefield 4 and got 15 roundabouts. Similarly awful frames on most newer games from Doom to Assassins Creed.

I know the 670 should be performing way better. I've seen 45-50 fps on BF4 at high/ultra on YouTube.
I'm assuming the cpu is bottlenecking the gpu, but how do I confirm this?
Also the processor is running really hot. Generally above 65 C. Is it failing? (it's 7 years old nor I think)

Yes. Unfortunally there is a bottleneck here FOR SURE.
i assume its a lost of maybe its like half its power in a bottleneck maybe?
65 Degrees gaming temperature on a processor that is 7 years old its quite a holy temperature, most BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX processors of these days works nearly at the same temps while gaming.

I would honestly change mobo, processor and Rams to an up to date ones... Ryzen ones are actually pretty cheap for its incredible performance

65 degrees Celsius when on idle. Not while gaming.

My DDR3s won't work with Ryzen will it? (If I upgrade)
Will an FX-6300 cut it? Don't have a whole lot of spare cash right now

I have an amd fx4170 with a 1050ti which should be very similar in performance.I don't get any drops but one things for sure old amd cpu's usually shouldn't exceed 60 degrees.

10FPS is too low, bottleneck is not the problem here.
Have you installed the latest GPU drivers? Also reapply your thermalpaste of your CPU.
Please post your GPU and CPU temps while gaming.
Also please post your full sytem specs.

Reapplied thermal paste and noticed a huge difference. better fps numbers and temp around 60 on load.
Full system -
Phenom 955 3.4GHz Quad.
8GB DDR3 Corsair Value
Gigabyte 78LMT USB3 Motherboard
Nvidia GTX 670
5 separate hard drives (total 8TB)
600w PSU

Got rid of the phenom though. Upgraded to a Ryzen 3 and can now run BF4 ultra at 40-50. Absolute dream

Well that's nice! But when you reapplied the thermal paste, was there then a FPS difference?
