Ok, for the last couple of months I have been dealing with stupid computer probs. I have sent my hdd, ram, motherboard and cpu back for replacement as I don't know whats going on. I even changed out the power supply to make sure it wasn't the problem. When I first built this computer, I had the 720 overclocked to a 3.7ghz and it ran just fun. Put it through prime95 without any errors...At this point, I don't even remember what I did, but I have been banging my head on the wall to figure out why I can't overclock my cpu. It is stock 2.8ghz, but can't even get a 2.9ghz or 3.0ghz overclock, which should be easily feasible with the 720 at stock voltages...here is the basic setup of my bios settings...which makes prime95 crash windows...
core fid= x15.0 3000Mhz
core did= divided by 1
core vid= 1.3000V
nb fid= 2000mhz
cpu over voltage= 0.200v
memory over voltage= 2.10v
chipset over voltage= 1.30 v
ht over voltage= 1.30 v
side port voltage= 1.80v
cool and quite= disabled
I don't know if amd sent me back a bad cpu or if I even had one to begin with...not sure if biostar sent me a junk ta790gx 128m motherboard....i am lost...didn't have this much trouble when i first put this together...any help would be greatly appreciated...i am exhausted trying to figure this out
