phenom ii 965 which gfx card?

Just wondering what card would be more suitable for my pc?

As you can see old cpu and still rocking a 6850 🙁

I was thinking 280x or 290x?

I will hopefully be upgrading to an i5 at some point in the next 2 year though which is a factor in my decision!

If I get a 290x will my pc just downgrade its performance to a 280xish performance for the sake of the cpu?

But is it worth it so I dont have to buy another card when I upgradey cpu?

But then will the 290x be outdated (I know its not new now but still performs with games atm) when I come to upgrade my cpu and have to buy a new one anyway?

Will I see much of a differnce over my 6850 saphire vapor x with my current cpu?
I have 8gb 1333 RAM btw (1333 best mobo supports)

I currently have the 965 stable at 3.68, whether I can an get more I dont know but 4 crashed it :/ maybe due to my mobo as its not the best either 😛
All I do know is a have a great psu to support any cpu/card I go for its only 600w but its tier 2 I think. It says keep cool or keep silent I forget which with a black panther on it 😛

This is so hopefully I can play no mans sky when its released reasonably ok on reasonable settings untill I upgrade 😛

750Ti, your best choice. Any higher card will be a bottleneck, but i won't do it only for the reason the CPU is too old.

Hmmm OK although sceptucal as whether that card will do the job :/

Also on a side note I have a biostar a880g+ mobo, will this support these newer gpu's?

Might be time to just ugprade the whole system to be honest. In the mean time I would go for a GTX 950.

Your motherboard should support the new GPUs in theory (backward compatibility).

Hmmm ye iv been looking at i5 6500 skylake there quite cheap really for the performance of a 4690k but the perk of ddr4 ram.
