I chose a good GPU over a CPU fan.

People commented that BIOS flashing is a mess, so I went with the GIGABYTE MOBO.
Phenom II 940 is recognized right out of the box. (Its really nice too)

Nice build, but if you can wait the 925 is coming out in april and that will give you the opportunity to go up to an am3 mobo with ddr3 memory, but you'll probably have to go for a 4870 or GTX 260 instead of the 4850 X2.

I'm recommending am3 instead because of the debatable future of am2+ since new cpu's are closing in on 5200mt/s.

Nice build . Pretty much what I would build for my self if I was ordering today .

The weakest spot is the PSU IMO . Its enough but stepping up to a 650 watt will let it run with a lot less stress

Hey This looks much better than your previous post...

I like a lot of those components (alot of them are in my gaming rig), looks like you're going with the stock cooler for the processor. It should be fine.
The only thing I think you might be able to improve is your power supply. With a 4850X2 and 125W processor I would recommend 650W or higher. Infact, I checked the Sapphire support page for the 4850X2 and 500w isn't going to cut it for that card. Here's what it says and here is the link

–650 Watt or greater power supply with one 2x3-pin PCIeR power connector and one 2x4-pin PCIeR power connector is required (1K Watt with two 2x3-pin and two 2x4-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode).


Change the PSU to a Corsair 650TX and you'll be all set and it's ONLY $20 more - also the 650TX has the 8 pin 12v connector you'll need for that motherboard, and the cables are sleaved which is nicer than bare cables like the EA500 has. (I have both of those power supplies so I am speaking from experience here).

I think the Phenom II 925 will be too expensive for my budget.

Is there that huge boost in performance with the DDR3 rams anyway?

I guess I can consider changing to a Phenom II 710. While I wait for the 925 to come out.

Right on! Just glad to help... the first build can be kinda scary but also a very thrilling experience. I hope your's turns out well. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't POST the first time, and remember there is NOTHING that can't be fixed... it just might take a little patience ( and sometimes more money, lol ).
