I have a question about the AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE and if it will run on the ASRock 880GM-LE FX Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard, I've read that without the bios update you can run am3 on am3+ mobo's but i've also read on older boards it will not work, does anyone know if this is one of the "older" mobos that the 955 BE will not run on?

I searched that list with the model number and it isn't on it, either is the standard 955, i was wondering if anyone knew of a mobo that would definitely work with the 955 Black Edition for around $60?

I'm looking at ASRock 760GM-GS3 Micro ATX AM3 Motherboard, or the Asus M4N68T-M V2 as when i checked the cpu compatibility list the 955 BE actually showed up on both, probably not the best mobos, but as it stands at least i know the parts will work.

HDZ955FBGMBOX is the model number

I'm not planning on overclocking, i wouldn't even know where to start, and if i did i might add 100-200mhz at the most. I'd rather not have to worry about cooling it, and as it stands the build would do enough for me at stock speeds.

So it should work perfectly, and amd just decided that the exact same cpu with 2 different model numbers would be fun to confuse people with? Thanks for the help that makes me feel much better about it.

seems like the only difference is the box comes with a heatsink and the other doesn't?
